Over the years, laser hair removal has been known to be an very effective and gentle treatment for removal of unwanted hair.

The laser emits a beam of energy that passes through skin and heats the hair follicle (the center of growth for the hair). This damages the hair follicle and inhibits the growth at that strand of hair.

The treatments are not painful, and the treatments can usually be done without anesthetics. Some patients may find that the treatments produce an area of pinkness or redness, but the effect is usually quite limited.

Multiple treatments are usually needed, as the laser will affect hair follicles that are actively producing hair at the time of treatment. The dormant hair follicles are usually not affected.

The sessions are repeated so follicles entering the growth phases can be treated. Dr. Sampson uses the Cynosure Nd Yag laser that has been clinically shown to be one of the most effective lasers for hair removals.

Any areas of the body can be treated. The most commonly requested areas include the face, upper lip, neck, chest, underarms, back, abdomen, bikini line, and legs.
